Best Office Chairs Under $500 Collection

Sidiz T50

The Sidiz T50 is our top-ranked chair for its unbeatable value. It’s got all the features you need: modern design, adjustable options, mesh back, and an affordable price tag. It’s a solid 4-4.25 star chair, but the outstanding customer service bumps it up to a 5-star rating for us.

SIDIZ T50 suits individuals around 6 feet tall and has a weight limit of 250 pounds, making it potentially suitable for them.

Let’s dive into the details:

Adjustability: This chair offers fantastic ergonomic adjustments, like the armrests that move in multiple directions. However, if you’re like me with longer legs and a shorter torso, you might find yourself wishing for an extra notch on the armrest and seat height.

Back Adjustability: The mesh back and lower back support are amazing, keeping you comfortable and cool during long sitting sessions. But it would be even better if there was adjustable tension for the recline. Currently, you can only lock it in three positions or freely recline, and the free recline tension might not suit everyone.

Style: The chair has a sleek and modern look that I love. The materials have held up well over time, except for the seat cushion that lost its springiness. The armrest padding, on the other hand, remains comfortable and intact. The neck/headrest is more for show than functionality, though it can be useful when reclining for a quick break.

Wheels and Base: The chair glides smoothly on hardwood floors without leaving any marks or scratches. The base is sturdy and handles my weight just fine. There’s a slight wobble in the seat within the base, but it’s not a big deal for me.

Size: The compact size of the chair is perfect for my limited home office space. It fits nicely without bumping into other furniture, and it’s easy to move around.

Pros

  • S-shaped curved back design
  • Highly durable
  • Multi-tilt functions
  • Seat depth adjustment

Cons

  • Not good for short people

GABRYLLY Ergonomic Office Chair

Gabrylly holds the second spot in our collection. This chair has a taller backrest, which is great for giving better support to your back and lower back (lumbar region). It has a mesh action, both on the back and the seat. The mesh ones are where it’s at – comfy and built to last. The mesh is nice and firm, and you’ve got plenty of adjustments for both the seat and the headrest to find that sweet spot.

Suitability: It works well for people of all sizes, even if you’re tall. It’s a sturdy chair that can support users weighing up to 300 lbs

Adjustment: The backrest can be adjusted to three different positions, so you can find the one that’s most comfortable for you. There’s a 90-degree angle for sitting upright, a 110-degree angle for leaning back a bit, and a 120-degree angle for when you want to relax and recline.

Breathable: Unlike regular cushioned chairs that can be uncomfortable to sit in for long periods of time, this chair is really breathable. It keeps you cool and comfortable, especially during the summer and when you have to sit for a long time.

Comfort: With a wider and curved seat, it provides extra comfort. Seat design is specially made to prevent discomfort in the back of your thighs.

Arms: One cool feature is that the arms of this chair can be flipped up easily, saving space when you need it. Just fold them up at a 45-degree angle, and you’ll have more room on the floor. The armrests can also be adjusted in height by 1.8 inches, and they have a soft surface made of PU material, which feels nice on your elbows.

Pros

  • Great comfort with low-price
  • Easy to assemble
  • Highly breathable

Cons

  • More plastic parts

Whether you’re sitting up straight or leaning back, the Hon 2.0 chair helps you maintain good posture while you browse.

Adjustability: The chair’s mechanisms work smoothly, adding to the overall enjoyment. You can easily adjust the height and tilt to find your perfect comfort level. Just keep in mind that you might need to put a little pressure on the tilt mechanism to get it into the right position.

Steelcase Series 1 Work Office Chair

The chair is sturdy that works well for smaller individuals, taller users might find the backrest lacking in support. The seat adjustments are basic. Though the seat pad is firm, we found it comfortable. The backrest provides comfort if the chair fits properly, although the frame can be bothersome otherwise.

Lumbar Support: The lumbar support in the chair is controlled by a horizontal bar that can be adjusted up and down. To do this, you need to push or pull the left and right sides of the bar. However, it should be noted that the adjustment process is not smooth and may require a significant amount of force to be applied.

Cool Blend: It has a mesh back for breathability and a cushioned seat for comfort. Experience the cool support of this chair, saying goodbye to sweaty backs and enjoying stylish comfort.

Mesh Back: It comes with a strongly built mesh back  that offers good support. The arms are highly adjustable, we found the arm caps hard and a bit edgy which may not be ideal for most office users.

4D Arms: The chair stands out with its impressive 4D arm adjustments, a feature typically absent in lower-priced chairs.

Pros

  • Comes fully assembled
  • 4D armrests
  • Big colors collection

Cons

  • Backrest tension with limited adjustments

Nouhaus Ergo3D Ergonomic Office Chair

This chair has been found to be a game-changer compared to typical office chairs that become uncomfortable over time. Its mesh fabric allows airflow underneath, keeping you cool and comfortable. The skateboarding wheels are a fantastic addition, offering superior grip. The chair’s ergonomic design provides excellent support and stability.

The only minor issue is that the armrests can be a bit hard on the elbows, but that’s easily remedied with memory foam armrest covers. Assembling the chair is mostly smooth, although attaching thef base to the backrest required some balancing skills.

Caster Wheels: This chair comes with two types of wheels: the standard office chair wheels and larger rollerblade-style wheels, which I opted to install. Personally, I prefer the rollerblade wheels for their enhanced performance. However, it’s worth noting that these wheels are slightly taller than the standard ones, resulting in a slightly higher lowest chair position compared to the norm.

Back Support: The lumbar support is deemed amazing! It is found to be incredibly comfortable and perfectly fits my back. It supports all the appropriate areas, and the noticeable difference it creates can be felt. Additionally, it is ideal for sitting for extended periods without experiencing discomfort. Remember, the lumbar support can not be adjusted.

Tilt: When you push the back of the seat, it tilts forward. But when you sit on the chair, it doesn’t tilt forward. Instead, it can be tilted backward as much as you want using the tilt function. This allows you to adjust the tilt to your preference while sitting on the chair. The Ergo3D chair has a total of 3 tilt-locking positions: upright, middle, and fully reclined one.

Pros

  • Quality mesh for ventilation
  • Good tilting options
  • Highly adjustable Arms
  • Better back support
  • Sturdy and wide base

Cons

  • Hard Armrest padding
  • Limited adjustment
  • Not good for tall folks (6.0 or more)
