Similarities

Back type

Both chairs come as high-back chairs. Such chairs can be used both by average and tall users. The back proves supportive both for the back and head.

Lumbar Support

Both Ikea Flintan and Millberget come with a basic type of built-in lumbar support. The earlier has a lumbar cushion behind the mesh back. While the latter has padded lumbar support.

Though both cannot be adjusted, they provide enough lower back support to help achieve a healthier posture.

If you are looking for advanced lumbar support, you should check out high-end ergonomic chairs like Herman Miller Aeron, Celle, Embody, Steelcase Gesture, Leap, etc. Secretlab also offers advanced lumbar support.

Adjustable Seat Height

The two have adjustable seat heights. There is a hydraulic gas lift to raise and lower the seat. A lever located under the seat allows you can adjust the seat height for your comfort.

Lockable Tilt Tension

Both chairs have lockable tilt tension. The same lever used to adjust the seat height is used to lock and unlock the tilt tension. Just move in and out the lever to lock and unlock the tilt tension. You can only lock the tension in an upright position. There is no way to lock recline at a random or certain angle.

Back Frame & Base

Both come with steel frames. The frames have epoxy/polyester powder coating that offers enough protection from different environmental factors.

Like back frames, the bases of both chairs are built of steel. The steel has a better resistance against corrosion and has the capacity to withstand heavy loads.

Seat Foam & Fabric

Both have seats made of polyurethane foam. The seats offer a medium level of softness to provide better comfort and avoid you from sinking into the foam.

As for as the fabric is concerned, both come with 100% polyester fabric. Polyester fabric has been found one of the strong fabrics and it is very easy to handle.

Casters Composition

Each of these has casters made of polypropylene plastic. The caster wheels of both chairs can run smoothly both on a hard floor and a soft floor.

Safety Casters

The casters found in both Ikea chairs have a pressure-sensitive brake mechanism. The mechanism allows the casters to move only when a user sits on a seat. Otherwise, it keeps the casters locked to prevent any movement of the chair.

Weight Holding Capacity

Each of the two come with the same weight holding capacity of 243 lb.

Assembly

Both chairs come fully unassembled, and you will be required to assemble the chair by yourself.

Comfort Level

Flintan

One of the features that we like in this chis is its mesh back. We found it really helpful as it keeps our body cool during hot weather. The majority of our staff feel more freedom with this armless chair. Its built-in lumbar support is a great supporting feature for our staff who spend most of their time sitting while playing games and watching movies.

Another reason we like this is its curved back, which helps us achieve a healthy posture. Though the chair lacks a tilt tension knob, its factory-calibrated tilt tension is good enough to give us a pleasant recline experience.

Millberget

With its padded seat and back, it proved best for our colleagues who prefer soft and comfy seating. Its padded armrests are helpful during prolonged desk work. It has an edge over the previous by having custom tilt-tension adjustments. Unlike the first, this chair can be locked in an upright position.

Durability

Flintan

Flintan has a base and back made of steel, capable enough to last for years. We found its mesh a very strong fabric that is made of 100% polyester. One of the things we don’t like about this chair is its seat frame which is made of Layer-glued wood veneer. Other than this, we favor this chair for its gas lift, caster wheel, and reclining feature.

Millberget

It also has a base and back made of steel. The presence of a steel-made seat frame distinguishes it from the previous chair. We noticed the chair has soft and strong faux leather made of 100% polyester.

Its armrests and caster have a build of polypropylene, a good quality plastic that offer better resistance against water absorption, acid, and bases.

Millberget

Final Remarks

After a detailed comparison, we can say that both chairs are quite different from one another.

The Flintan has a curved mesh back but it lacks armrests and a tilt tension knob. If you like a minimal design, and you are a freestyle sitter and want a more ventilated seat, Flintan would be best for you.

Compared with Flintan, the Millberget offers more features and customization by having padded armrests and a tilt tension knob. It also has a padded back. If you want more support and more customization, Millberget will better suit you. The chair also has a lower-end version with the name Renberget.
